"Truly, truly, I tell you: when you were younger, you would dress yourself and go wherever you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go."
Explanation:
1. Young means: in previous lives you had the free will to decide what to do.
2. Old means you will no longer have free will; it will be denied to you, but it will be another person, namely a pure external spirit, who will lead you where it wants.
Definition of pure external spirit: The pure external spirit is the spirit that, during past lives (i.e., when it was "young"), demonstrated its suitability and righteousness according to God's rules, entering through the "narrow gate" into the new World, i.e., the Kingdom of God: The Paradise.

"In verità, in verità ti dico: quando eri più giovane ti cingevi la veste da solo, e andavi dove volevi; ma quando sarai vecchio tenderai le tue mani, e un altro ti cingerà la veste e ti porterà dove tu non vuoi".
Spiegazione:
1. Giovane si intende: nelle vite precedenti avevi il libero arbitrio di decidere cosa fare.
2. Vecchio si intende: non avrai più il libero arbitrio cioè ti sarà negato, ma sarà un altro cioè uno spirito esterno puro che ti condurrà dove lui vuole.
Definizione di spirito esterno puro: Lo spirito esterno puro è lo spirito che durante le vite precedenti (cioè quando era "giovane") si è dimostrato idoneo e retto alle regole di Dio, entrando dalla "porta stretta" nel nuovo Mondo cioè il Regno di Dio: il Paradiso.
